This article is about teachers going to meetings. The writers of this article are promoting the idea of high school teachers going to meetings. The American Chemical Society National Meeting is mention as a great meeting to go to. The authors state that going to these meetings is a great idea because they can be very helpful resources. The authors mention that at these meetings they have met some very influential people; Nobel Prize winners. It is also stated that many of the workshops contain very good examples of laboratory experiments or demonstrations that could be used in a classroom setting.
I agree with this article that it is a good job to for a high school teacher to go to some of these national meetings. From talking with some of the teachers I have had they have expressed to me that the majority of these meetings are very useful. As a future chemistry teacher I know it is often difficult to think of an experiment or demonstration that could be done in class; this is not only do to safety reasons but also the availability of the resources needed. This is the major reason why I feel that going to these meetings is a great idea; because they give you some very useful examples that you can bring into your own classroom.
